Hope, Beside You Always.

You're not too much. You've just been carrying too much alone.

Maybe you've been feeling stuck, overwhelmed by relationships, or quietly carrying the weight of others' expectations. Perhaps sadness, low mood, or constant worry has become your normal and you're ready for something different.

Over 10 years, I've worked with people from incredibly diverse backgrounds across Canada and internationally. I understand that culture and identity aren't just details. They're central to healing.

About Muna

I'm Muna, and I'm so glad you found your way here.

Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) · MACP, RP

Muna Adam

Culture and identity aren't just details. They're central to healing.

Maybe you landed here because something inside you is ready for a change, even if you're not quite sure what that looks like yet. That takes courage, and I don't take it lightly.

Over the past 10 years, I've had the privilege of working with people from incredibly diverse backgrounds across Canada and internationally. That experience taught me something I now hold at the centre of everything I do: your story, your identity, and your lived experience all belong in the room.

As someone with intersectional lived experience, I understand what it means to move through different worlds, to code-switch, to carry generational expectations, to search for a space where you don't have to explain yourself before you can begin to heal. In our work together, you won't have to.

Therapy with me is collaborative and reflective. Rather than rushing to fix things, we slow down, deepening insight, strengthening your emotional awareness, and creating change that actually lasts.

Individual Therapy

For when you're ready to come back to yourself.

Life can make us lose ourselves in other people's needs, in old wounds, in patterns we can't seem to break. Individual therapy is a space to slow down, make sense of what you're carrying, and start to find your way back.

Together, we'll explore what's underneath. Not just what's happening, but why, and what you actually want instead.

Couples Therapy

For when love isn't enough on its own.

Every relationship has seasons, and sometimes you find yourself in one that feels distant, stuck, or painful. Couples therapy isn't about deciding who's right. It's about understanding what's happening beneath the surface, and finding your way back to each other.

I'm trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), one of the most well-researched approaches for couples. EFT helps you identify the patterns that pull you apart and build the emotional safety that brings you back together.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

Practical tools for anxiety, depression, and the unhelpful thought patterns that keep us stuck in old cycles.

Trauma-Informed Care

Safety first, always. Every aspect of our work is grounded in an understanding of how trauma shapes the body and mind.

Anti-Oppressive Practice

Honouring the role of race, identity, culture, and systemic experience in your mental health. Not as a footnote, but as central.

Person-Centred Therapy

You are the expert on your own life. My role is to walk alongside you, not to direct or diagnose, but to support and reflect.

Questions? I've got answers.

What happens during the free consultation?
+
The 30-minute consultation is relaxed and pressure-free. It's a chance for us to connect, for you to share a little about what's bringing you to therapy, and to get a sense of what working together might feel like. There's no obligation to book, and no pressure to share more than you're comfortable with.
How do virtual sessions work?
+
All sessions are held online through a secure, encrypted platform that meets Canadian privacy standards. Before your first session, you'll receive a link to join. All you need is a private space, a device with a camera and microphone, and a stable internet connection.
Do you offer direct billing?
+
Yes, I direct bill with most insurance companies. Please inform me during our consultation so we can double check your coverage. If direct billing is not available with your insurer, I will provide you with a receipt that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
Do you offer a sliding scale?
+
Yes. I believe access to mental health care shouldn't be determined by financial circumstances. A sliding scale means I offer reduced rates based on what you can genuinely afford. If cost is a concern, please mention it when you reach out and we can have an honest conversation about what's possible.
What if I'm not sure therapy is right for me?
+
That uncertainty is completely normal. You don't have to have it all figured out to reach out. The consultation is free and low-pressure, and you're never obligated to continue. Sometimes just talking to someone is the first step to knowing what you need.
What is your cancellation policy?
+
Please provide at least 24 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule a session. Late cancellations and no-shows may be subject to a fee. Life happens though. If something comes up, just let me know as soon as you can.
How long does therapy usually take?
+
There's no one-size-fits-all answer. Some people come for a focused period of 8 to 12 sessions around a specific challenge. Others find ongoing therapy valuable as a longer-term investment in their wellbeing. We'll regularly check in about how things are going and what feels right for you.
How do I know if a therapist is the right fit?
+
Trust your gut. A good therapeutic relationship should feel safe, non-judgmental, and genuine. Research shows that the relationship between therapist and client is one of the most important factors in positive outcomes, so finding someone you genuinely connect with matters.
What's the difference between a psychotherapist and a psychologist?
+
Psychologists in Ontario typically hold a PhD and can conduct psychological assessments and make diagnoses. Psychotherapists are regulated by the CRPO and specialize in talk therapy. If you're seeking therapy rather than assessment or diagnosis, a psychotherapist is a great fit.
Is everything I share confidential?
+
Yes. Confidentiality is a cornerstone of therapy. What you share stays between us, with a few exceptions required by law: if there is a risk of serious harm to yourself or others, or if there is a legal obligation to disclose. I'll always explain these limits clearly at the start of our work together.
Do I need a referral to book?
+
No referral needed. You can reach out directly to book your free consultation. No doctor's note required.
